To supportÌýunderstanding of the new Early Learning Program Quality Assessment and Accreditation Assessment Items, self-assessment tools are available for Recognition and Accreditation tiers, by evidence type. Programs can use these tools to reflect on their practices and evidence to identify their strengths and identify areas that are not fully met to then create an action plan.
Each tool contains the Assessment Items from the tier and evidence type along with guidance that is available within the electronic application. ÌýThis guidance will provide information on what the item language means and scoring guidance to ensure the appropriate evidence is provided to fully meet the item requirements.

Observation Tool
The Observation ToolÌýincludes the Accreditation observation-based assessment items and guidance that is used by 51ɬɬÎÝapp assessors when completing any of the following typeÌýof site visit: Random Visit for Accreditation or Accreditation+, Accreditation+ required site visit, or a Verification Visit for Accreditation or Accreditation+.
Programs can use this tool to conduct mock observations within their classrooms and learning environments to ensure interactions and practices included in the observation-based assessment items are present. Educators can use this tool to self-reflect on their learning environments and interactions to identify areas of strength and areas where additional attention and/or support is needed.Ìý
