Japanese lesson in calligraphy
Year 8 Japanese language students were treated to a special lesson in calligraphy from the Consulate-General of Japan.
Steady hands used dip brushes and ink to write the Japanese characters for mountain, flower, moon, sun and light.
“Students really enjoyed this special experience and they took great care in creating their characters,” said Yoko Bloore, Head of Languages. “I was surprised at how well they translated the characters and they were very respectful of the entire process and this unique learning opportunity."
"Participation in activities such as this are very enriching to students Japanese language education. Some students even discovered a hidden talent in the art of calligraphy," said Yoko.
